| 1841: | Our first known mention in a national newspaper. The Freeman’s Journal reported on page 3, 18th March 1841 that the Band played at a Temperance Movement Mass in the Phoenix Park on St Patrick’s day. Parish Priest Fr Michael Dungan mentioned in his diary that the band was at a tea party that day prior to leading the Blanchardstown branch to the Park. |
| 1843: | The band attended Daniel O’Connell’s monster meeting at the Hill of Tara as reported in The Nation newspaper 19th August 1843. |
| 1844: | The band attended a Temperance event in Church St as reported by the Kerry Examiner on 15th March 1844 |
| 1864: | The band was mentioned to be playing in Navan in a “Dublin to Meath Railway” advertisement (Freeman’s Journal 23rd September 1864) |
| 1885: | The band attended a meeting in Blanchardstown for the purpose of forming a branch of the National League (The Freeman’s Journal dated 1st June 1885) |
| 1891: | The band attended a Labour Day event in the Phoenix Park (Freeman’s Journal 4th May 1891) |
| 1894: | The band took part in an event to mark the 3rd anniversary of the death of Charles Stuart Parnell (Saturday Herald 6th October 1895) |
| 1895: | The band attended a Home Rule event in Blanchardstown (The Irish Daily Independent 19th June 1895) |
| 1908: | The band won first prize at the Gaelic League Feis in Malahide (The Drogheda Independent 4th July 1908) |
| 1913: | The band played at a United Irish League protest in Dunboyne (The Drogheda Independent 1sr March 1913) |
| 1914: | The band led a march of the newly formed Blanchardstown corps of the Irish National Volunteers (The Saturday Herald 11th July 1914). |
| 1903: | Fire at “The Old Society Rooms”, an old thatched cottage next to Ryan’s garage), used by the band for practice losing many instruments. |
| 1904: | Replacement instruments were purchased from Wellington Quay Band (City of Dublin Workingmen’s club). We still have the drum purchased from them. |
| 1922: | The band played with many other bands in the long funeral procession from the Pro Cathedral to Glasnevin Cemetery for the funerals of Arthur Griffith and Michael Collins (The Strabane Chronicle 2th September 1922 specifically mentioned our band being part of the Collin’s procession). |
| 1923: | Used the local RIC/Court House (Now Jennas Flower shop, River Road) for practice but it was blown up during the Civil War on 16th January 1923. Again. lost many instruments but got compensation of £80 from the newly formed Department of Finance. |
| 1923: | New Band Room…bought disused army hut for £15 and erected it in the Mill Road. |

| 1943: | The band took part in a military parade in Blanchardstown of units strengthened by the Government during the Emergency due to WW2 (The Irish Press 26th April 1943) |
| 1959: | Bought first uniform (navy blue jacket/trousers, light blue piping/sleeves, navy cap with white cover, white shirt, light blue tie), cost £162 (£9 each). The Irish Independent 27 December 1959 included a photograph of the band outside St Brigid’s church and an article noting the parish priest blessed the new uniforms! |
| 1963: | Mr Lynch (Bandmaster) passed away; Tommy Smith (Army No 1 Band) takes over as Bandmaster |
| 1965 Jan: | Purchased set of B&H Lafluer instruments for £600 & Paddy Buggy (Trombone) presented with a gold clock for long service |

| 1971 Jan: | Band name changed from St. Brigids Brass & Reed Band to Blanchardstown Brass Band to reflect the “all brass” instrumentation and to give identity to the Bands location in Dublin. |
| 1971 May: | Purchased new uniforms (blue blazer, grey slacks, white shirt, blue tie, white cap), cost £360 |
| 1973 April: | President de Valera photographed with the Band at his last attendance at the Easter commemorations at Dublin Castle as President. |
| 1974 Jan: | Joe McGregor Sen. presented with gold watch for long service over 50yrs |
| 1975 April: | Pat O’Brien (ex Army No1 Band) takes over as Bandmaster, Jimmy Lowe continues teaching beginners |

| 1976 March: | Celebrated our 150th Anniversary with a band photograph and held a 10 mile sponsored walk to finance new instruments |

| 1977 Jan: | Appeared in the film “The Purple Taxi” with Peter Ustinoff, Fred Astaire & Charlotte Rampling, shot on location on Dun Laoghaire Pier |

| 2006 September: | Played with 6 other bands at the Stedfast Shoes Brass Band 50th anniversary festival in Carrickmacross. |
| 2006 December: | Donated €2000 to St. Francis Hospice (proceeds from Christmas concerts). |
| 2007 October: | Some members of the band played at the Dominican Orders 800th anniversary celebrations in the National Concert Hall. |
| 2007 November: | Mick Harford is awarded overall Fingal Person of the Year in recognition of over 60 years commitment to the band and for his work as sacristan in St. Mochtas Church, Porterstown. |

| 2012 June: | Took part in Brass the Baton Relay, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, with Stedfast Shoes Brass Band at Carrickmacross Festival and St. Patrick’s Brass and Reed Band at Balbriggan Summerfest. |

| 2012 August: | Performed at the opening ceremony of the FIPPA Pitch & Putt World Cup, held at the Royal Meath Pitch & Putt Course, Clonee. |

| 2013 July: | Band made it’s first appearance at the South of Ireland Band Championships, Clonakilty. |
| 2013 November: | Performed with the Dublin Male Voice Choir at the Coolmine 40th Anniversary Gala Concert in Draíocht. |
| 2014 September: | Established a new training band in Scoil Bhride Boys and Girls School, supported by IPB Insurance through the IPB Youth & Community Fund which forms part of its Corporate Social Engagement Framework. |
| 2014 October: | Band President Joe McGregor (Baritone, formerly Solo Cornet and member for over 70 years) passed away. |
| 2020 March: | For the first time in our history, the band had to stop gathering due to restrictions imposed during the Covid pandemic. |
| 2022 May: | After the pandemic, the band started an adult class for beginners and they performed for the first time in the Draiocht theatre. |
| 2026 May: | To mark our 200th anniversary year, held a Festival of Brass in St Brigid’s school with 12 bands attending. |
